Same reason Democratic Party entryism is a dead end, citizens united miraculously going away doesn’t alter the fundamentals, we are living under the dictatorship of capital and every single arm of state power serves it, not us.

Okay but is it better if corporations can donate millions to their preferred agenda conforming candidates? Cause thats a massive issue in any supposedly democratic system. It matters to me cause anarchy and democracy are two sides of the same feather.

If you’re an anarchist why are you invoking a statist argument like “we must get the state to reverse its own court decision, then things will be better”?

It’s weird because I’m a Marxist-Leninist, the kindest thing I’d expect to be called by an anarchist is “statist” but the roles are weirdly reversed here.

My bottom line is the US does not magically become more democratic if you repeal citizens united. What you actually need to do is organize dual power wherever you can, and anti-imperialism is priority one

People dont listen when you tell them to abolish the state. But every fucken lib on a 6000 mile radius will when I talk about Citizens United. Cutting off any lever of oligarch power is good, and in capitalism, does make the state easier to dissolve. Thats my rationale. I am not focused on perfect. I really dont see how anyone can say with a straight face that removing legal bribery wont do anything. Countless studies have been done and it turns out unlimited campaign donations reduces everyone’s power but the obscenely rich. https://rooseveltinstitute.org/publications/citizens-united-15-years-later/
