Average reptile enjoyer
Now that is a dedication to science. Hats off to this hero!
“He got me,” Schmidt said of the snake’s bite. “That f***ing Dispholidus boomed me.”
Schmidt added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times.
Schmidt then said he wanted to add the snake to the list of reptiles he wants to observe this summer.
That’s a little bit to much dedication for me.
is it? he never had to work a day again
you’re never going to be a world renowned herpetologist with that attitude
Best I could ever be is a semi-renowned derptologist.
He didn’t know it was enough to be fatal until it was too late but I guess the truth isn’t sensational enough to tweet
Yeah, the way it’s worded makes him sound like a mad scientist.
In hindsight it would seem that he made a bad decision at least.
He mad
A mad lad?
This is way better than what I had planned
This guy ingested H. Pylori to prove ulcers are caused by bacteria
Because back then it was medical canon they were psychological/caused by anxiety.
doesn’t matter, doctors still give you PPIs and call it a day.
Ulcers, occasional reflux, and GERD are different things.
This man’s research specifically centered around ulcers and the cause.
doesn’t matter, doctors still give you PPIs and call it a day.
Then you should get a different doctor
Pray you never recognize the truth behind why that user keeps saying that, because that will mean that you have a serious problem that doctors will have failed to help with.
That user’s experience was my experience too — with a highly-rated doctor.
You know dude, I’ve been there myself.
My sister’s been there, my whole family’s been there, I dated a gastroenterologist for 7 years, I created a computer-based training program which was first year medical-level for a research drug for reflux.
This dude’s just driving the conversation down to the basest, most surly Facebook boomer-esque sniping. It’s completely obnoxious, it misrepresents the actual medical facts behind the symptoms and treatment. One line cynical statements are just thought terminating and I detest them.
Maybe he’s just in pain and you could try a little patience and empathy instead, especially considering your informed position.
Your redundant comments feel like some sort of anti-intellectual flex.
It’s not anti-intellectual to hold medical professionals to standards.
It’s well known that PPIs are overprescribed and many people end up having undiagnosed H. Pylori infections for a while before it’s picked up.
He thought the bite wouldn’t be fatal because of the snake’s age.
Isn’t that usually the opposite from what we now know? Like the young can’t control the venom or something?
That’s right, he thought it was too old to kill him
The lizards he’s wearing look like at least a couple different species of Basillisk (I’m thinking it’s a mix of Green and Brown Basilisks). They don’t make great pets, but they do show up in the pet trade (at least in the USA). I wanted one soooo bad back in the day.
Be “funny” but on-brand for this guy to be related to this Schmidt
Probably voided his life insurance policy.
Generally full life insurance covers even suicide (after a few years, you can’t just buy it and go do that immediately)
going to the life insurance store and asking if they cover suicide
You don’t need to ask. It’s clearly explained in simple terms in the summary of coverage. It’s not even hidden in the fine print.
15:33 - Itchy. Tasty.
“Lizard. Lizard. Lizard. Lizard…”
When one loves lizards too much.
Those lizards from Holes were real?
The species in question is a species of snakes.
