Cortana can cause Windows Explorer and other essential Windows services to malfunction, especially on Windows 10. To resolve the Start button not working problem, you can disable the temporary Cortana files using the Command Prompt.

My battery is dead is on this laptop I’m using wall power. And how do I disable cortana? It’s all fucked up now start doesn’t work, my hdd is locked at 100%, fan is super loud, idk wtf I did
If I knew, I would tell you. I switched to Linux Mint about a year or so ago and haven’t looked back.

This worked! Gonna keep this up for future reference for anyone else who has this problem and googles it.
This is not an uncommon problem on Windows 11 after initial startup.
Interesting that you are getting it in Windows 10.
