Links to a hopefully growing list of lemmy clients.
There is an official FOSS lemmy app for Android called Jerboa that I’m using to create this post and it seems to work pretty well but that’s not all, there’s an iOS app, some BBS looking thing and some libraries that interact with reddit…
Wonder how useful those will be once the api changes happen in July, maybe worth trying them while you can…
What app are you using? Any thoughts about how they work? Just the website seems on your phone seems way more usable then any official reddit anything which is nice.
Man, I can’t find the submit post button…😅 Edit: i had to select a community first
Jerboa. It’s decent enough. Needs some polish and some minor UI adjustments and whatnot. But I won’t fault it, being as usable as it is and it only being version 0.0.30. There’s lots of room to grow with community guidance and suggestions and all that.
Yeah just downloaded it to give it a go. Could use some more font size options but otherwise I felt at home using the app pretty quickly.
Lemmy has a progressive webapp if apps don’t work out for some people.
Second this! I find Jerboa still not quite there, and stick with the reliable and honestly pretty neat web app. Since it’s a PWA, you can “install” it like a regular app.
I’m hoping Slide for Reddit becomes Slide for Lemmy
This, but with something like Infinity. That one needs some long awaited polishing too.
Left reddit and came here simply because I won’t be able to use Infinity anymore, tho I’m liking it here already
Yep, same for me I really like(d) Infinity. Still a bit sparse here regarding my interests.
That would no doubt be incredible! Slide is my Reddit daily driver, love its interface!
I’m using Jerboa, which works well, & seems to be the only android app available at present. There was another Android App, called Lemmur, which looked promising, but is no longer maintained, & no longer works…shame.
Using Jerboa rn. Feels very similar to Infinity for Reddit. I hope Infinity support lemmy someday soon.
Infinity is a nice app, really customizable, smooth, and fun to use. Would be great in the devs decided to head over here…

Ahh, i just put my own comment regarding Lemmur. Seems it not working wasnt just me.
Using Jerboa as well because of this comment.
Hahaha, I’ve just installed Lemmur, can’t seem to log in on it though
Used Jerboa for about a minute and was completely put off by the wack font sizes, I should give it another shot it seems
I’ve just installed Lemmur, can’t seem to log in on it though
That is because Lemmur is no longer maintained and the log in process is broken in that app. It was a great app when it worked, but now you cannot use it unless someone updates it again.
Jerboa is still an early build, but definitely worth another look, there is an option in settings, to alter the main font size, not sure how effective that would be at improving the experience…
I’m using Jerboa and I like it so far. Also, the Lemmy web UI is pretty responsive too. Feels like a native “app” if you will.
I only ever use the web UI, on desktop and mobile. It’s great imo.
Loving Jerboa so far! Feels great!
Tragically, I was looking into this this morning only to find that the sole iOS app is no longer available. Android is really spoilt for decentralized social media apps 😆
iOS has an official app for Lemmy called Mlem. It’s currently in beta testing but it’s open to any one that downloads TestFlight and accepts the request.
😮 downloading now, thanks for the tip!
No problem! It’s still missing a lot of features but these kind of projects always need beta testers.
could you share a link to it on the app store? Can’t find it :/
Here you go! https://testflight.apple.com/join/xQfmkJhc
Ohhh that’s why I couldn’t find it 😅 thanks
Happy to help!
Perhaps ironically, I’ve been enjoying interacting with #Lemmy communities and posts just using my Mastodon account via my instance’s default web app. It of course doesn’t offer the full range of options a native Lemmy app would, but it lets me engage using the account and apps I’m already familiar with.
do you follow/subscribe to communities through your Mastodon account? I’ve tried doing that a few days ago, but it meant every single comment made in the community being boosted to my main feed.
@noodlejetski I do! I may eventually have to stop following some of the busiest communities, but I don’t mind it so far.
@noodlejetski @hybridhavoc I have done it, and posting from it now. But, I made a beehaw account to clean up my feed at some point.
Maybe one day it will federate cleaner.
I mean, I know it can be done from the technical standpoint because I did it for entire 5 minutes.
Looks interesting so far! I’m using Jerboa and it’s pretty nice.
I think that multiple communities existing for the same topic across many instances has the potential to confuse some people. I’m sure one or two will emerge as the most popular for each topic, but still.
That is both the advantage and price of being decentralized. Not locking anyone to only one instance/server with only one option for a community on a certain topic is important. However, it creates a much more complex and for some newcomers (who do not understand what federation is) hard to navigate and grasp concept.
Actually, the web UI works/renders surprisingly well in mobile Safari on iOS, so I’ll be sticking with that for now.
Theres another called Lemmur, which i used originally when i first signed up some time ago.
Having heard the recent news regarding the Reddit API bollocks, decided to retry it.
For some reason, it doesnt want to load anything. Could be my network settings blocking something, might not be.
Regardless. Heres the link Lemmur
From what i remember, it was fairly decent, but been a while since i last checked so unsure of revent changes
It ceased development, the dev states that on github. But anyone can fork it and revamp it, the code is neat and only needs to be updated to the latest lemmy version.
Wondering, maybe hoping, someone involved with the Lemmur app, might pick it up again, & push on with it. I think with the latest ‘reddit API bollocks’ another app would be very welcome…
Yeah lemmur was pretty promising. It ran really badly on my previous phone (like all Flutter apps), but was quite decent on newer hardware.
It seems development was discontinued and the repo is now archived.
New addition to my app wheel! :D (Jerboa at the top)
Whoa how’d you do an app wheel? I’m on GrapheneOS and cannot seem to find a setting for that
It’s called LMT Launcher and it’s the best Android launcher IMO. I think it’s been around since 2011. I’ve been using it for a few years and I really like it. Give it look-see
Thank you!
👍
Another Jerboa user here, pretty neat app but there are times where it becomes a little unresponsive on my device. Feels pretty similar to Infinity which is something I like.
The lemmyBB project from that list seems pretty neat though, could be an old-school way to browse lemmy on a desktop and might even benefit some communities depending on the primary format of content.
Hoping we get some more Android app variety for Lemmy, although imo we’re spoiled for choice when looking at available apps for other federated software
Having come here from reddit, largely using the infinity app Jerboa feels incredibly familiar in a good way. Loving it so far!
Another guy leaving Reddit here…
I’ve been looking into the platform the last few days and kinda like the idea of it, but I mainly browse these stuff through my phone and there are not many apps (let alone any mature ones, especially on iOS).
Mlem looks good but is really basic right now.
So I decided last night I’m going to give it a try and work on a Lemmy client app in my spare time. Mainly as a coding exercise but mostly because I really want a proper app for this.
I built this in a few hours and so far the API seems pretty straightforward so I’m cautiously optimistic about it.
Heavily inspired by Apollo, as you can see 😅
I also use jerboa it’s a Really Great app for accessing Lemmy content

works!
May I just say, I love all these test… it works comments/posts here and there :D Seeing someone figuring out a new piece of technology is for me a unique and satisfying experience.
Just got my Lemmy instance set up, I’ll be playing w/ the iOS client tomorrow.
