when i talk about marinating it in diluted soy sauce before frying this is the end result. It looks better in person though the lighting in my kitchen is fucked (i feel like a blind old man in this kitchen. All the lights are this soft fucking yellow, i can’t see shit captain)
the point is more the flavor though it just gives it this good savory base which i think will help people who don’t like the texture of tofu or find it bland even with sauces

My wife is starting her vegetarian journey recently, so tofu has become commonplace at our house. It’s honestly so much better and easier to work with than I thought.
Yeah I don’t understand why people have such visceral reactions to it, like, the american public is so brainwashed it’s like they think tofu will chop their nuts off if they eat it
Tofu piccata is really good imo. I skip the soy sauce marinade, but i do marinate it in vegan chicken stock (I find tofu to be almost flavorless so i think it needs some kinda marinade 100%. Overnight at least.) before breading it and frying it, then you just make a buttery sauce thickened with a light roux (or margariney) with lemon juice, capers, parsley
I think it’s as you said. There is so much brainwashing happening with the American public. “Meat is the only good protein” is such a prevalent mentality, it’s wild. Like…beans are fucking delicious, fuck off with that. And tofu rules, it just has to be prepared right. I agree it is a little bland, our first friend tofu tasted like pure vegetable oil and breading, not ideal. But has massively improved since with marinades and a tofu press!
