Since May 1, the Chinese capital has been effectively drone-free under sweeping new rules. Residents are not allowed to buy, rent or fly drones without government approval within the city’s sprawling jurisdiction.
That’s not particularly unusual, a lot of places control drones under their air traffic legislation, it’s just not really enforced so recreational users don’t know about it. You have to register flight plans, obey a bunch of no-go zones etc here but no one bothers you if you’re just flying a shitty little 200g thing. I bet it’s similar in Beijing (may even have some carve outs for consumer drones, lotta places do). But of course Chyna Bad, so can’t report accurately…

From the very unbiased sources I see on XHS, this is actually enforced, and people do find it annoying. On the flip side, people also complain about other people flying drones anywhere, so

It means that they weren’t interested in giving CNN behind the scenes coverage of every little detail. I mean, they literally gave them a wrong number to call for more details, extremely funny.
Something I’ve never, ever heard until this report where they tried their hardest to make it seem like common knowledge.
That’s how so much anti-China propaganda works. They’ll say some outrageous statement and provide no further context, and treat it as if it were common knowledge not even worth discussing the validity of, and when all the western news outlets publish the same garbage, it quickly becomes just another accepted idea about China, entirely without any evidence to back up any of their claims.

How many people died? If it’s only a couple, and you take into account China’s population, this is probably only a fraction of a percentage of a 9/11 by Israeli calculations.
