    The Laundromat (2019)

i watched it not too long ago but i still don’t remember what point it was trying to make in the end? banks bad? not really. big finance bad? also not really? big finance bad when no oversight??kind of?? the whole financial system is rotten but only because it’s possible to do rotten things within it???

the financial system inevitably kills people by scamming them out of all their money while making some people very rich and powerful, the people responsible should be punished, but not punished too much because then we become the chinese communist party who harvest organs from peaceful freedom-loving falun-gongists??? (why was this even mentioned in the movie about finance capitalism)

The whole movie is showing how imperialist capitalism with its financialized and flighty nature is immoral and generates no material value. How the ruling class’ ideology leads to moral failings on both personal and social levels. How legal frameworks are fundamentally set up for perpetuating the success of the bourgeoisie, and how that screws the rest of us.

And then it ends with “we gotta reform this!” Girl.

Gotta find a way to rip on Chinese anti-corruption measures somehow, might as well regurgitate cult slop
