      The gerontocracy is toppling and with it the neoliberal consensus will die.

      Yeah but it’s not as if politicians your/our/anyone’s age are gonna not be whatever the contemporary iteration of liberalism is.

      Like I think the “gerontocracy” discourse kinda misses the mark. I don’t oppose their age, I oppose their actions, beliefs, and priorities, and the existence of the system they work for. And considering that young politicians are not reading our books (otherwise they wouldn’t be running as Democrats), frankly they’re probably reading the same books (if any) as the current generation of libs, I see no reason why replacing old figureheads with new ones will change anything other than cosmetics.

        The younger people have no unified guiding ideology, there is no longer a consensus. Instead, they have a random distribution of incoherent political beliefs. From malicious order comes disorder.
