The number of accidents on Dutch highways heading towards the border has increased by 250 percent since Germany introduced border controls on September 1, 2024, De Telegraaf reports based on data requested from the Rijkswaterstaat.

      Yes, also upheld by German courts. Still ignored by our government. They seem to have learned from the Republicans that you can just ignore the law.

      No, they are allowed for specific reasons in limited time frames. Currently, the reason given is curbing illegal immigration and terrorism (good job at that, Dobrindt), and the limited time frame is until 15. September 2026, at which point it is expected to be renewed for another 6 months as the government has done for 2 years now.

        (The attack could not be prevented with border controls, I just mention it because it is clear they only want to fight terrorism by taking our rights, not by actually using the tools they already have)
