I’m sure they did these rigorous studies for other drugs, like caffeine and nicotine, before allowing the public to consume them. Better safe than sorry!
I’m convinced all anti-drug propaganda is a sophisticated attempt at educating the public to distrust the government.
Fifty years later and some countries are still asking.
I mean… it sounds reasonable. Unlike good ole tobacco, which we know it is healthy! I mean, my doctor smokes and my grandfather who was a heavy smoker lived unto his late eighties*!
*The last twenty were very rough…
oh
This was my feeble attempt at humor.
I kind of grew up trying to convince my dad to quit smoking, yet he kept repeating the same three stories about doctors smoking, grandpa’s longevity (the only thing I remember from him was coughing fits that lasted five minutes and had him on his knees) and that he could quit anytime.
But even I think tobacco is not as bad as alcohol, mostly for how the latter is ingrained in our culture. How tv characters will drown their sorrows, how a character with character tends to raise his elbow way too many times and how getting wasted is the way to party for young people. I’ve also seen what happens to those that lived a drinker’s life and it is harrowing, not so unlike what meth can do to you.
Sorry for venting, have a good one.
Alcohol lobby got deeper pocket than cigarette lobby.
The Before Times were weird
