Part of me feels pity for the old man. I guess deep down I still love him, he is my dad. I told my therapist that and she said it’s only normal. Life is complicated.
I’m glad things are improving, but I know it’s complicated and difficult. I hope things turn out okay for you.

Sometimes the treatment can be worse than the disease.

Life is complicated, Conrad. She’s right. It’s okay to feel how you feel. As I get older a lot of the things I swore were black and white issues actually have some shades of grey in there too.

mine said the same when i expressed confusion about my feelings for my mom because she had disowned & estranged me when i came out to her and then to tried repairing our relationship when she learned she had terminal breast cancer – i’ll never know if it was the breast cancer that made her change her tune or if it was a genuine desire to be a better human being.
it’s been 10 years now and i still feel strange about it.
