The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with an edible fruit; it is the most economically significant plant in the family Bromeliaceae.

The pineapple is native to South America, where it has been cultivated for many centuries. The introduction of the pineapple plant to Europe in the 17th century made it a significant cultural icon of luxury. Since the 1820s, pineapple has been commercially grown in greenhouses and many tropical plantations. The fruit, particularly its juice, has diverse uses in cuisines and desserts.

Pineapples grow as a small shrub; the individual flowers of the unpollinated plant fuse to form a multiple fruit. The plant normally propagates from the offset produced at the top of the fruit or from a side shoot, and typically matures within a year.

    I always feel bad about having to depend on others financially so much, and I often blame myself thinking “If I were better with money I’d be less dependent”. While this is true, I wrote out how much I spend on everything, and realized that I can’t do much better. I can’t even afford furniture in my apartment, I’m far from living the high life. All me and my roommate have is 2 mattresses, a microwave, and a shelf. The only reason I have silverware is because I found a large box of it for $2.50

    Gonna go into my finances in the spoiler, feel free to look over it and if you have any suggestions feel free to drop them

    My finances broken down in 4 week increments (functionally a month, just doing it this way for simplicity)

    Income - $800-$1200 a month

    Rent/Utilities: $500 a month

    Busses: $5 a day, ~$80 a month

    Ubers home from my night shifts: ~$180 a month (3 Ubers a week @ $15, although the quantity and price of Ubers can vary a lot in a week)

    Medication - $60 a month

    Weed - $50 a month

    Cigs - $60 a month

    Coffee - $35 a month

    Total comes up to $895 a month and doesn’t include groceries or any other important things like cleaning supplies.

    I have weed separate from medication, although I do use it medicinally. I started smoking again a few months ago because I just couldn’t eat or sleep due to my auto immune conditions. Currently, I buy 7 grams of shake every payday, and make that last as long as possible. The store I buy from also does 2 pre rolls for $5, I’d say I buy a pack of those a couple times a month to cover the gaps, because 7gs isn’t very much for a 2 week period. I guess it doesn’t really matter though, I use the weed for pain treatment and appetite, and by the time I’m out of weed I’m out of food too.

    Cigarettes are a vice I feel really bad about some days. Like I’m asking all these people for financial help and I’m still smoking cigarettes. One thing that makes me feel better about it is I live in one of the cheapest states for cigs in the country. I buy my Lucky Strike menthols for a little over $3 a pack, a carton is a little under $30. 2 cartons will last me around a month. So it’s like ~$2 a day to smoke my cigs, it adds up over time but it’s really not a massive difference on my finances.

    After I get paid, I’m going to Restaurant Depot to stock up on beans and rice, probably frozen veggies too. I’m tired of not having food, so I’m stocking up on poor person food so I’m not worried about running out. Also, so I can offer to feed my friends around here. It’s tricky, the people I’m friends with are queer or junkies, sometimes actively using sometimes not. They usually don’t have much of a social network, or if they have a social network their network is even worse off than me. I’m extremely poor, but I’m a lot more mentally stable than a lot of my friends. If I’m not giving these people support, nobody will.

    Had an incredible dream last night where my dad read my thesis and disawowed me for being a dirty Marxist. There was a lot of commentary in the dream that I’ve heard all my life around here on all the lib reasons why communism just doesn’t work.

    In the dream I ended up getting very angry at him and gave this huge lecture on materialism as a philosophy and a science and how it’s far better at explaining the world than any of the lib shit he has been spouting all his life.

    Seriously considering saving up like $850 to meet with this specialist who seems like my best chance of getting help or finding a cause for these health problems I’ve had for the past 8 years

    Pros: he is rated really well by a local magazine, on his website it says he helps with complicated health issues, I could do a consultation that I think is free, it might actually help and I could go into remission or maybe there’s even a cure

    Cons: it’ll cost a minimum of $850 just for seeing him and getting the basic labs and will be even more if I need more testing or get prescribed some medication, he might not be able to help me/could be scamming desperate people like me, there might be a name for what I have and no treatment which would kinda ruin my will to live
