The “sudden shock or unexpected emotional gutpunch that makes a character pull this face and shatter into glass” thing.
I ask because I’m trying to find more gifs of this sort, but if I look for things like “anime shock, shatter, break, glass” etc I never get this exact trope, I always get a generic shocked face instead without the shattering effect. The glass part is the important detail.
The closest gif I could find was the one in this post, which I got from our Blorptube.

I want more gifs like this because it’s the only thing that perfectly encapsulates a feeling I get sometimes. But I just can’t find any! I’m usually so good at weird specific picture finding!
Go on tvtropes and make a page for it with whatever name sounds good to you, wait for someone to correct you

Is there context for this? Not like the specific narrative but why this approach is taken?
From what I’ve heard, that kind of editing became a staple of Indian soaps because a lot of people have the TV running while doing other things (like household chores) and the dramatic sound effects and editing are pretty much meant to signal for you to pay attention so you can go “Oh shit!” at the dramatic thing happening
And there’s probably a bit of an arms race between soaps, trying to out-drama each other lol
