The technology will make it easier to make movies, but I worry that that will make people value movies less. If the technology progresses to the point where you can’t tell the difference between an AI movie and a big budget Hollywood movie, then I think the whole concept of movies is going to fundamentally change. Why should I pay to see a new Pixar movie when instead I can choose from thousands of similar movies created within the past week that are tuned to my specific tastes?
People will still be able to sift out quality content. It’s not like most of what is available now is great material, after all, regardless of how human is creators are.
Maybe the minimal quality level will go up!
