Ok I acknowledge I am an idiot so please correct me here. Lesbian and trans, doesn’t that just go full circle and make you straight? Or are you saying your m to f and now like f, which is still like. Man this shits confusing we should just stop giving a shit about people’s sexual orientations all together, everyone’s a they them now.

Edit: sphere gave me a really good answer. Thanks sphere.

Ok you asked, so I’ll answer. A trans woman is a woman, full stop. A lesbian woman is a woman who is only interested in fellow women. There is no contradiction there whatsoever, and it’s actually a form of transphobia to think that there is. Most of us have learned transphobia from the society around us, so it’s important to recognize it and stamp it out when it crops up.

Also, people’s identities are important; trying to ignore them is a form of retreat used by reactionaries to avoid having to grow socially.

Thanks for the honest answer homie. Me asking you these questions is a form of me trying to work out those internal discriminations. I was writing out a whole long question about something but then it kinda clicked. The only reason the author even mentions being trans here is because it’s relevant to the context. In every day life it’s not and they wouldn’t, they would call themselves a woman, because that’s what they are. That makes sense man. It’s not the first time I’ve had this revelation either lol, hopefully it’ll stick and it’ll be the last time I have to remember.

That last statement, just read a really cool comic that illustrated that call eugenisis or eugenic. If you like comics you should check it out, don’t let the name scare you, it’s good.

        • I want to give you props for asking a genuine question and learning from it, but I also have some gentle criticism to give. You referred to TomboyShulk as “they” a couple of times in your post. It’s good etiquette to try to use people preferred pronouns, so in this case you should use “she” instead of they.

We’re pretty serious about this here since one of the core values of hexbear is being aggressively pro-trans. Please don’t take this criticism as an attack though, and please continue to ask any questions you have. We’ve got tons of smart people that can help explain anything else relating to the trans experience
