Image is of a protest in San Diego against ICE.
On January 7th, 37-year-old Renee Good was murdered by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. While a considerable amount of the discussion online has been about the direction her wheels were turning and things like that, truthfully, I think it’s just fundamentally bad to shoot a person to death with a gun if you happen to be a state mercenary enforcing an incredibly racist federal policy, regardless of the circumstances.
The murder has since prompted a wave of vigils and protests, not only in Minneapolis, but also in virtually every major city in the country. The demands are justice for Good in particular, and the abolition of ICE in general, to avenge its many victims. The Trump administration has done all they can to inflame the situation, designating Good a “domestic terrorist” and saying that the agent who shot her will be immune from prosecution.
Protests and resistance to this administration’s policies have, encouragingly, had an element of international solidarity - not only are flags from countries throughout Latin America (and also Palestine) present, but speakers in protests have even been actively condemning the recent imperialist actions against Venezuela. For it is, of course, one joint struggle. The imperial boomerang always returns - and in the modern day, it returns rapidly.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it’s just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

Recovering from his astonishment, the prefect asked if there were any worthy men in Taichou to whom he could look for instruction. Big Stick said, “After you arrive, remember to call on Manjushri and Samantabhadra.” The prefect asked, “Where can I find these two bodhisattvas?” And Big Stick said, “When you see them, you won’t recognize them. When you recognize them, you won’t see them. If you want to see them, don’t take their appearances into account. Manjushri is living incognito as Cold Mountain at Kuoching Temple. And Samantabhadra is disguised as Pickup. They dress like paupers and act like lunatics. They run errands and tend the stove in the monastery kitchen.” Big Stick then said goodbye, and Lu-ch’iu Yin began his journey.

Just watched Starmer give a speech on the Greenland situation. Boring as fuck. He frames the situation as wanting to play both sides but from my perspective the UK is a US vassal too entwined to ever go against it.
The most notable question seems to be this one:
Q: [From Gary Gibbon from Channel 4 News] Is there anything that Trump could do that would make you stop thinking of him as an ally? And do you think he announced tariffs because he had been misinformed about the nature of the military deployment by some European countries to Greenland?
Starmer said he spoke to Trump about the deployment yesterday, and stressed that soldiers were going there to protect it from Russia.
On the other point, he says working with allies does not mean pretending they don’t have differences.
Reading between the lines I can only read this as “no there is nothing the US can do to make them stop being viewed as our ally”. They’re using the word ally, but really they’re the master and the UK is the dog.
In another question Starmer said that the UK and the US is deeply connected on intelligence, to the point of realtime communication, he said that the two countries were the closest in intelligence sharing between any 2 countries in the entire world and that “keeps the UK safe, in ways he cannot discuss”
This is just acknowledgement that we can’t detach from the US because we’re too entwined. The UK is a US vassal. A pet dog that is supposed to do its master’s bidding. These tariffs are just disciplining a dog on a leash that’s slightly misbehaving, they’re not saying it in my words but they are publicly acknowledging that a leash exists with these words.
I keep seeing a constant churn of “Look how many flag-draped coffins we spent on helping the US in its imperial wars!” posts on the front page of reddit, and I’m trying to decide whether it’s organic Eurolibs indignantly pointing out their own servility, or a concerted effort by some intelligence group. It has all the consistency and persistence through a couple of news cycles of an organized propaganda push, but who would be behind it?
It’s not hard to imagine the EU or an individual Euro country has the capacity to put this together and that they would have a reason to do so, but reddit is most heavily astroturfed by US intelligence agencies, who should be able to bury these posts if they wanted. Are they allowed because of disagreements within the US national security apparatus on what to do about Greenland and Europe? Do the euros have enough power to post through it regardless? Or does the US simply not care?
My most conspiratorial theory is that it’s the US itself pushing these posts, because even while they superficially seem to be negative towards the US, they’re actually reinforcing the idea of European loyalty towards their imperial masters, and that it’s Europe that most wants this relationship to continue, in defiance of the US who wants to break with them - and once the current crisis is gone, or Trump leaves office, the Eurolibs can joyfully pledge their fealty even more strongly to the US now that it’s ‘back in safe hands’.
And the wild card is that it’s Russia trying to put a wedge between the US and Europe, but compared to the liberal imagination, Russia’s propaganda efforts in reality are much weaker and less subtle than this. It would still be extremely funny to accuse Euros of spreading Russian propaganda and trying to sow discord between the Western powers with these kind of posts.
Of course, it could just be organic and I’m still somehow underestimating the craven, kicked-dog moping of the European technocrat class.
Donald Trump has sent in a silly letter to the Norwegian leader Jonas Støre. I shall print it:
Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT
Fuck Bill Clinton for killing Layla Al-Attar
Apparently the shitter still doesn’t work on the Gerald R Ford lmao. Nobody on earth grifts as well as the US MIC
Minneapolis is going on general strike in everything but terminology. PSL is leading the charge as far as I can tell but unions are in support.

Never heard of the “China talk” podcast, but they do have some lovely guests. This guest presents a nightmare scenario for the US - a cure for cancer. Imagine the horror if we got a cure for cancer. That has to be stopped.

The German military contingent leaves Greenland after completing its “reconnaissance mission”
MADRID, 18 (EUROPA PRESS) The 15 German military personnel deployed to Greenland on a “reconnaissance mission” have left the Arctic territory less than a day after US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of additional tariffs on European countries deployed on the island, including Germany, after interpreting their presence there as a threat to his annexation attempts.
A spokesman for the German Army has confirmed to the DPA news agency and the newspaper ‘Der Spiegel’ the withdrawal of the 15 soldiers, who are already on their way to the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Although sources from the newspaper ‘Bild’ indicated that the withdrawal of the military occurred without prior notice after remaining deployed on the island for less than 48 hours, the spokesman told DPA that the withdrawal is due to a natural dynamic.
The mission has been completed and the results of this “reconnaissance” will be “analyzed in the coming days” without at any time linking the decision to Trump’s threat. In fact, in a joint statement published this Sunday, Germany and the other seven countries sanctioned by Trump (Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom) defend the mission and stress that their military presence in Greenland is to support Denmark and that “it does not pose a threat to anyone.”
“As NATO members, we want to strengthen security in the Arctic, a shared transatlantic interest. The coordinated Danish ‘Arctic Resilience’ exercises conducted with allies respond to this need. They pose no threat to anyone,” the eight countries explained. In the statement, the eight express their “full solidarity” with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland and mention the dialogue process opened last week “based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we firmly support.”
463 apartments were damaged in the attacks of January 3rd. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced, during a visit to Fort Tiuna, that all of them will be repaired. Regarding the sovereign wealth funds, she indicated that the first fund will be for social protection. “Any income derived from oil and gas reserves will go towards workers’ income, health, education, and housing programs. The second sovereign wealth fund will be for public services and infrastructure: water, gas, electricity, and roads.”
She stated that there will be a technological platform that will make the use of these funds completely transparent, in order to address social inequalities and inequities. These funds will be available to the people once the dividends from oil sales begin to be received. “We will keep the public informed about the amount in the fund. The sovereign people have a right to know, and we will also report how the sovereign wealth funds will be spent in the areas we have mentioned.”
I guess no one cares, but the lib loser trump bootlicker who lost to Trump’s narconservative candidate, Salvador Nasralla, is to this day still crying on twitter and is no longer begging Trump to change his mind. Now he wants the US congress to do something.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is scheduled to speak in the belly of the beast (World Economic Forum) on Tuesday. Should be interesting.

I doubt he’s gonna be there just to yap about boring
stuff. Not the Finance Minister, after all.SouthFront has some “HTS” vs “SDF” combat footage. This first video collection shows the fighting for Tabqa, including “SDF” drone strikes on “HTS” regime troops:
This second video collection shows the “HTS” regime capturing Raqqa:
Apparently, “HTS” fighters also released large numbers of “ISIS” sectarian death cultists held in “SDF” prisons.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi commented on the US imperialist withdrawal from Iraq’s Ain al-Asad military base:
“The withdrawal of US military forces from the Ain al-Asad base and the end of the UNAMI mission are clear indications of the consolidation of independence, stability, and national sovereignty in Iraq.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought a strong and independent Iraq and believes that the country has the necessary capacities to play a key role in regional peace and stability.”
