      While I’m completely disinterested in football, and I do think the craze is often more than a bit much, this is just overly reductionist. Does everything one cares about and finds fun/interesting necessarily need to have intrinsic value? I’d say no.

        No it doesn’t, nor did I suggest otherwise. Only that it incurs expense like any hobby, and that any meaning a person finds in it is imbued, not inherent

      Not obsessing over millionaires who don’t give a fuck about you, playing a children’s game for their billionaire owners who really don’t give a fuck about you.

      Why? So you can forget that both of these demographics exploit you and the entire system on the daily? Maybe it’s better not to forget.

          If it makes you feel any better, people from every nation are allowed to be participants, even American citizens! Mixed gender and all ages as well. Before it’s over some lucky fans flying in will get a once in a lifetime, up close and personal experience. Truly a World Cup.
