Chicago is a cool city, don’t get me wrong, but aesthetically it’s kinda boring for a video game setting. I think Boston is too old to set a game where driving in a major mechanic, who wants to drive through those streets? Not Bostonians based on the ones I’ve met. And DC, nah fuck that!
Only ones I could maybe think of are New Orleans and Philadelphia. Honestly GTA Pittsburgh would be a risky but potentially interesting choice.

Also near the end of 2025, we had memes were Somali people adopted Israeli settler rhetoric to mock Zionists. There was memes that said like “Minnesota was promised to us 3000 years ago”.
Also there was some talk about Israel about forcibly displacing Gaza people to Somali. I’ve speculated that the Trump administrations focus on villainizing Somali-Americans could be related Israel wanting to relocate Gazans.

Edit: there could be a story mission where you’re trying to rob a bank in the middle of a blizzard or something, I dunno. And in the early game, half of the city is blocked off because it’s under 7 feet of snow, sort of like how they handled the flooding/hurricane closures in Vice City.
The endgame car is one of the European micro EVs that almost made it over to the US but then Trump’s tariffs killed them.

Idk if this is a reference to the opening mission of GTA 5 but it does open with a heist in “North Yankton” (loosely based off North Dakota from a cursory search) and you have to deal with the snowy icy conditions iirc. I don’t think it actively snowed during the mission though.

Pittsburgh is a dope pick for a video game, super unique city. Great geography, lots of unique neighborhoods, and you only need to go like three miles to get to true Appalachian hillbilly country and all the fun that comes with it.
Can go to North Braddock and bomb Fetterman, too.
Yeah it’s have a lot more verticality. Plus getting to do missions in old ass Appalachia mining towns would be fun. Plus western PA has one of the best long distance bike trials ever for people who like cycling in the game.

i looked at some early leak of GTA6 and the map made it seem like there would be aort of a smaller version of orlando way up north on the map. not like fully fleshed out, but more like a micro parody version like some of the coastal towns on the northern part of the GTA5 map. like maybe it would just be “Celebration” and maybe a crappy theme park or whatever
not sure if it will make it into launch and clearly its focused on south florida, but it made me interested in how they might parody little parts of things like The Villages or further up into central florida… a vapid cultural wasteland seemingly beyond even the most advanced forms of parody.
New Orleans gets my vote, they really haven’t explored the south (outside of miami) in detail. All sorts of clowning you can do on confederate chuds.

Mafia 3 was basically New Orleans. Weird game I actually enjoyed it a lot, but it was a real blip on the radar. Would have been dramatically improved with a Coop campaign given how under utilized it’s really good cover/concealment and suppressing fire gameplay was.

I usually had my takedowns set to non lethal, but when the Klan came up I’d switch back to lethal.
I loved rocking a French 9mm pistol with 3 spare mags worth of ammo and the pistol grip pump action shotgun with 25 spare shells. Felt like a sincerely realistic and concealable amount of weapons/ammo for the first time in a game.

I think a GTA with actual dense traffic would be really cool. Make it really difficult to run from the cops in a regular car because there’s too much traffic at peak times. You have to use bikes and motos if you want to get around easily, or plan around off-peak hours or even using transit. Rockstar would never though because they are cowards.
GTA IV has a functioning subway system. It’s only required for one mission, but I love using it whenever the game doesn’t force me into another mode of transportation.

That’s a really fun concept, and honestly even just the idea of a GTA set in the interwar period is super cool, there were some really interesting and different cars around at the time. Or would it go even earlier and be set around the era of WWI? (Not super up on the Fords) That could also be cool af. Given how fast and loose GTA games are you could sneak in stuff slightly out of time or that (I think?) never really made it to the US like German micro cars and some of the cool coach built British stuff.
