I know in theory what a chaser is but how likely is it that I will encounter them and what do I need to now ?

Im basically transfem and to formulate it as cringey as possible on a journey of self discovery.

I gotta say that i agree with most of the first half of that post. It’s spot-on (there are some contentious points down the line, i think for example that she does not accurately present discourse around rejection of the term queer). I mean, she doesn’t go into that some define gold star lesbianism specifically in a “has never touched a penis” way that is obviously transmisogynist, but eh, that is not exactly something i run into every day. My impression is that unironic gold star lesbianism is a lot less common than what she calls out in that post, which is non-lesbians in general and men in particular not being able to accept that they shouldn’t pester lesbians about our opinion on dudes, which we by definition aren’t attracted to, and that guy sounds as if he should seriously STFU. agree with that. There’s been other content by Kat in the past that i enjoyed a lot and where she raised valid points, too.

But none of that relates to the stuff i discussed. I’m not saying that she’s super bad and problematic, just that she may have some iffy views and that her output should be taken with a grain of salt at times.

Edit: Reading further into this, there are a few more things that do rub me the wrong way. I will not go into that in too much detail, it would just derail the thread, but it does emphasize my point that Kat’s opinion pieces should be taken with a grain of salt. She does come from a very conservative background, she frequently stresses so herself, and unfortunately that means she sometimes is a bit off about things.

I was affected similarly to you by her lesbian video and just thought you would like to know her full opinions on this. I agree with your assement of her.

I mean, she doesn’t go into that some define gold star lesbianism specifically in a “has never touched a penis” way that is obviously transmisogynist, but eh, that is not exactly something i run into every day.

I am not going to deny that there are women who claim gold star status who do so to communicate that they are not interested in people with certain genitalia. I’m not going to deny that there are trans women who’ve been rejected by lesbians who are using the term and this is probably quite hurtful to them. That does not then mean the term is inherently transphobic or that there aren’t trans women who identify with the term because they’ve only been with women.

Also posting this part incase you didn’t see it.
