Was a daily smoker almost uninterrupted for like 7-8 years (only ever 2-3 days off at most while travelling), had an epiphany last weekend and decided it wasn’t helping make life any better (also, $$$) and simply stopped. On average I was probably smoking 1-2g per day.
It’s been about 9 days and I only smoke in my newly more-vivid dreams (!) and also I’ve been outright weepy for major chunks of the day, which is unlike me. Is this normal? (I’m also turning 40 in a few weeks and have some feelings about that so it’s kinda tough to tell what’s motivating what.)
Anyway, was wondering if anyone else had quit and what it was like for them.

Yes. After the intense night sweats and inability to sleep I then experienced incredibly vivid dreams. I never got weepy, but I’ve heard that’s quite common.
Regardless, the weepy moments go away, but the dreams stay, and they are incredible. I draw a lot of insight from my dreams. This isn’t some hippy spiritual mumbojumbo, I just genuinely think they highlight things you should pay attention to, for better or worse. Stuff that plays on your unconscious mind that you would rather ignore and avoid. Sometimes they can be warning you about stuff, or encouraging you to pursue stuff, or in one case for me, make me get in contact with an old friend that I had abandoned (this was like a recurring nightmare that only stopped once we’d reconnected and made amends)
Good luck on your journey comrade
Thanks for the insight! I will pay more attention 2 the dreams
Do yes, but only once they calm down. They will be hectic whilst you withdraw
