Was a daily smoker almost uninterrupted for like 7-8 years (only ever 2-3 days off at most while travelling), had an epiphany last weekend and decided it wasn’t helping make life any better (also, $$$) and simply stopped. On average I was probably smoking 1-2g per day.

It’s been about 9 days and I only smoke in my newly more-vivid dreams (!) and also I’ve been outright weepy for major chunks of the day, which is unlike me. Is this normal? (I’m also turning 40 in a few weeks and have some feelings about that so it’s kinda tough to tell what’s motivating what.)

Anyway, was wondering if anyone else had quit and what it was like for them.

Both normal for me. I need to take a break to job hunt and for tolerance reset and as of this moment it’s 26 hours since I last used. I expect the dreams will be along in a few days like usual. I slept less than 4 hours last night, put in a full day’s work, was super irritable the whole time, and afterward crawled into bed and sobbed until I passed out, then woke up and cried some more. This is the worst episode I can recall, but going thru other stressors atm that I honestly need to be more clear-headed to deal with rn anyway.

I’m usually much more like myself after 3 days or so, and back to baseline within a couple weeks. Hang in there, hope you enjoy the dreams and find catharsis in the weeping, I know I usually do.
