      Thanks for the correction!

      I take it Inshallah doesn’t make sense for past tense like this?

      I was intending it like

      “if that’s what god wills” with a shrug and a shit eating grin

        You may mean ‘mashallah’? I think that one is the past tense, like ‘it was Allah’s will’ but used commonly to mean ‘it went well’ (thanks to Allah).

        I don’t think either mashallah or inshallah are used ironically, or at least I haven’t heard them used that way, but I’m not am Arabic speaker so can’t say for sure. I consulted this page which also has an explainer for Alhamdulillah

          they are used ironically insofar as most hexbears aren’t religious and some part of the usage is an attempt to trigger crackers

          that said it’s done with all respect to our muslim comrades and most crackers who say god willing aren’t religious either
