Did the person in the image/tweet really compare joining Blackwater to teenage boys and young men shit posting online? Surely one can see the massive difference between joining Blackwater (military mercenaries deployed to Iraq) and just talking nonsense online.

Don’t take the opinion of the children on here too seriously. Most of them are young white kids from over privileged western nations who have never had to make a hard decision in their lives.

My family has been shattered by the US government and I can still differentiate between a practicing fascist and a comrade. The most powerful thing about socialism is that it reaches across nationality, ethnicity, and even personal history to turn a former enemy into an ally.

This site is good in some aspects, but people here are generally not interested in committing to mutual aid and growing the movement. Most people here are just virtu signaling and trashing people over eclectic theory they never actually act on.

Phrasing is a little harsh, but I can’t say I wholly disagree. I mean, you don’t grow mutual aid online. Gotta log off for that.

But in the wake of that guy running for Main’s senator, it’s important to keep in mind that we do want defectors from the ranks of capital and its institutions. Obviously there’s gonna be, like, skunkworks marines attempting to be wreckers, and we should be careful of that. But we shouldn’t let it get in the way of making inroads with people who are genuinely hoping for a better world and looking for an explanation for why things are the way they are.

Criticism of a guy with Aryan Brotherhood tattoos is invalid because it expended time that could have been used to Do Things™ such as church-style community activism

Why is that type of criticism chiefly directed at people who try to refine a theory of action, point out opportunists, and place things in historical context? Is this not a perfect example of the way it can be used to browbeat people belatedly attempting to hold the line against fascism?

The person who started that comment thread was neither white nor from a western nation, and the user who made the comment you’re quoting is a nazi apologist (check the modlog).

Obviously there’s gonna be, like, skunkworks marines attempting to be wreckers, and we should be careful of that.

They don’t have to attempt to be wreckers, these people think they’re the main characters of reality. They just have to act like themselves, look at Platner.

I want to emphasize that I’m NOT talking about fannin here, who seems to be genuinely regretful and going through some stuff. I disagree with the way he took the original comment of that thread personally, but I understand it and I don’t think it makes him a bad person. It seems like he just has some extreme emotional associations with the concept of “hell” that came out in a bad way in that thread.

Its definitely up there. Man, what a ride that was. I probably should have shut it down and banned some people earlier, but I was trying to give everyone an opportunity to stop burying themselves and I was at work.
