Unfortunately the poster hasn’t broken into the think tank market.

To do so you need to be subsidised by your wealthy parents to spend years at college, then years after doing unpaid internships and so on

It’s rhetoric like this that makes me not want to take your side. I’m in the middle because ya’ll make political parties insufferable, immature, and act like POS towards us because we don’t “fall into your category” or pick a side. I know what I believe, and want, so fuck you

    A comment on the post…

Ah yes the centrist. If you are in the middle in America btw you are a centre-right at minimum. At minimum you might believe in some LGBTQIA+ rights, but not all, of course! You still believe in capitalism, and still have an anticommunist bias, but you’re not a blatant fascist yet, but you are leaning that way.

This is why I am so suspicious of centrists because they tend to be either uninformed or just centre-right conservatives who masquerade as centrists because they truly don’t care about changing the current neoliberal order, maybe they hate trump, but only because of the reasons the democrats do.

God forbid someone approach political science from a neutral perspective

In public opinion polling there is typically a neutral option and a greater portion of people consistently choose that option than identify as socialist so I suppose you also have to be brain dead to think socialism is an option

Let’s explore that. If I had no position, I cannot “do politics”?

I guess I’m not so conceited as to believe the only way to participate in politics is to state a position. Maybe I have more political experience than you. What I think is going on though is that I know most people don’t care what I think, they care what they think.

Many professional political positions require some amount of neutrality and yet I think of those positions as more influential than the dumbass children in this thread.

“Would you eat this 2 week old hoagie I found in the back of my car?” I conducted a survey by randomly approaching people in the street with a 2 week old hoagie in my hand.

      Polls:

      Yes: 3%

      No: 27%

Did not reply/told me to fuck off/called security/walked away as fast as they can/pepper sprayed me/pretended to be a deaf-mute: 70%

As you can see, the average person is neither for nor against eating a 2 week old hoagie, but rather a centrist 3rd answer.

In the Russian civil war purity test we did a few days ago I picked neutral a few times because I had no idea what the question really means. I guess that’s largely how it works in opinion polling too.

The brain capacity needed to form statements that actually mean something would prevent you from wanting to sincerely be a centrist.

I’m sorry you got brain melted by the job postings. Truly, I am. But experience = good is one of the biggest traps you can have in a business. If you have 4 years at the torture think tank, you can’t just work at the not-murder initiative because “we didn’t kill the people.”

If you’re neutral on genocide that says a lot. Neutral because people are annoying you says plenty when there’s a clear right and wrong. MLK had words for the white moderate and they weren’t exactly a letter of recommendation. Your ability to be hired by ghouls is antithetical to being worthy of my respect.

Tbf they probably have a better chance of landing their desired gig with that resume than I would with a decade of actual policy analysis. No employer wants actual policy analysis, let alone a thonk-tank, they just want you to agree with whomever gets paid the most.
