these duplicitous little rats “accidentally” undercounted the PTO i used on a recent vacation, resulting in a “mistake” that led to me being shorted over $2k

then after i spend an hour of my life digging through paystubs and HR software to call them out on it, these subhuman freaks have the gall to say “sorry for any inconvenience caused”, as if they didn’t intentionally try to rob me

these “people” should be [REDACTED] with a [REDACTED] until they [REDACTED] as painfully as possible

Look we’re real sorry about cutting your head off and sticking it on a pike to amuse our chieftain placate the gods, it’s just an order from management, you understand, right? Do you want all our wheat to freeze to death?

i hate when your job does some shit that fucks with your wallet and existence like you dont need that money and all they say is “sorry”. they should be forced to pay restitution for that type of shit. and emotional/stress damages as well.

when i was a manager i remember how pissed i was that my company dumped most of previous HR functions (payroll, raises, PTO) like that onto us (i’m talking an hourly department head not even salary). it added a bunch of extra workload even if it was just a small team. but fuck was it great to be able to pay out my own time off and i’m such a conscientious obsessive that i never fucked up my team’s requests. i even adjusted everyone’s pay rates to maximum which was just mindlessly approved by our aging store manager trying to click through notifications (lol and got some company wide letters sent out about that one)

no longer that role but also glad i can still get all this put in by my currently much more forgetful and sloppy dept. head even if i have to walk him through it.

but yeah my #1 personal rule was to never fuck that shit up and double, triple, quadruple check because that’s literally people’s lives and may as well be committing an act of violence against them. i had cash in my wallet on standby if i ever fucked that up.

so what i’m saying is these HR people should have to give you free money

If you can say the word “no”. Congratulations, you are qualified to work any HR position.

I feel your pain even as someone looking for a job. HR is the spitting image of weaponized incompetence. There’s an actual customer service lingo for acting stupid called “sludge” and the whole point is getting someone doing the complaining to give up. No doubt HR is trained in sludge tactics, and of course anyone who works in HR would happily portray themselves as incompetent dumbasses, it gives them a sense of power frustrating the poors.

Let me guess, the narrative HR sells is they’re just some poor smol beans overwhelmed by everything so they’re the REAL victim, right?

“I’m too lazy to organize myself and it makes we scawed and confoosed when people want me to wok!” And we’re supposed to feel bad for these people and do part of their job for them?

If it requires you an hour of time to correct a pay mistake by HR then that time should be paid as far as I’m concerned.

If I was secure in a company I would in fact try and get that hour back.

I remember when I was having trouble with chronic leg pain from standing all day (which has thankfully gone away, I guess being unemployed for a year really helped out with that go figure) and the new ASM was being a huge fuck about it even though the SM was fine with me sitting on a box in between customers (I was standing at a makeshift desk all day taking Amazon returns, no need for me to be standing between people) I said some shit to the HR lady about how “they could make her stand around all day doing her job” and she just looked at me like I’m a fucking crazy person, no thoughts, no empathy, just wide eyed “it’d be fucking absurd for ME to have to stand, imbecile”

I am very sorry for you. That absolutely sucks, shouldn’t have to deal with that shit.

I am however just gonna “not every HR person”. I have a friend who landed in HR jobs despite not really wanting to.

That friend really, honestly does their best to not flag any stuff like this when they see it (they have way too much other work to do for it to be worth bothering anyway), but upper management has nothing to do other than sit around on these systems trying to catch people out, so they force her to flag it up without even a chance to check. Every other week she has to convince upper management not to pursue some bullshit thing because it’s illegal and/or highly unethical.

So I can guarantee there’s at least one HR person out there trying looking out for people.

I wouldn’t attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity.

HR are just as incompetent as the rest of us.
