A “regime” is required in Iran to have something to negotiate with to prevent this outcome. If complete collapse occurs then a dozen different factions will emerge, all of which will be closing the strait.

I hope this conflict ends as soon as realistically possible but I’m also really hoping that Iran manages to take out somebody big enough in the Israeli government to make waves but not big enough that it derails the peace process.

Probably but they aren’t rational, haven’t had a history of being rational.
Taking out half is Israeli leadership may make a ceasefire more likely, but they will be replaced by monsters who will just restart the conflict as soon as they think they have an advantage again.
Tbh. Probably better for Iran to press as long as they can and degrade Israel and the US as much as possible. No point in getting a peace deal if it is only going to last a few months, not when Israel/US are already degraded and a break would give them space to regroup/rearm. If Iran got a 3 month ceasefire Israel will be able to replenish interceptors and the US can reposition radar systems, but Iran would still have burned through their missile stockpiles and wouldn’t have time to fully replenish.
I definitely don’t think they should stop. They seem to have the upper hand, thus far. I want Israel to surrender unconditionally, pay reparations, rename to Palestine, abolish the “jewish state”’law. Disarm entirely. Disengage from American foreign policy, etc. Disarm and destroy their nukes or hand them over to Iran
