It’s a World of Darkness - Mage reference. A game where all of reality is malleable and driven by consensus and whoever manages to control consensus, their way of thinking and doing things becomes real.

The Sons of Ether represent a movement of Mages that believe in now outdated ether theory, in steampunk shit basically. In my mind, Marx wrote Kapital to try and counter the swelling forces of capitalism that were making his own magic harder to do. I could write a whole dissertation here but I won’t, but it is the best TTRPG setting out there bar none ^^

I studied Hermetic Qabalah (So the western occult version, not the Jewish version) for fun awhile back, and tbf it is a very dialectical system.

Still a goofy as shit thing to say though lmao

Professor Jiang is not a professor. He was a high school teacher in Beijing. He was born in China but dislikes China. In 2002, Jiang was arrested in China for being suspected of spying for the US. In 2023, Jiang created a youtube channel called ‘Predictive History’ where he alleges that he can predict the future using ‘game theory’. He claims to have predicted Trump’s second presidency and the US-Israel war against Iran.

Professor Jiang has said he considers himself to be a Duginist. He has collaborated with Aleksandr Dugin. Dugin is the founder of the Nazbol party. This would mean that Jiang is aligned with right wing ACP/magacommunism type ideology.

Jiang’s youtube channel has 2.7 million subscribers. Jiang regularly does guest commentary for internet news shows and podcasts, including for those aligned with the far right.

The video discusses some of Jiang’s many bizarre conspiracy theories.

He claims to have predicted Trump’s second presidency and the US-Israel war against Iran.

does it count as predictions if it’s the most obvious thing in the world and something officials from both parties have been saying they want to do for 30+ years?

I think his predictions were impressive to people who aren’t Marxists or materialists. This is how he amassed an internet following.

Jiang’s current predictions are that the US will deploy boots on the ground in Iran and then still lose the Iran war after that, and also that Trump will serve a 3rd Presidential term

I’m not going to say he’s right but i could see all that happening

I hope this means he’ll have even more bizzarre and melodramatic crashouts than Jorbles. We’ve seen Russian benzo coma treatments, Taiwanese sex dungeons mistaken as CPC blacksites, a blood feud with Elmo, “Up yours, woke moralists”, the heart disease diet; imagine the shit Jiang could get up to.

    • Also of note, he said he had 1-2 students in his class. And the school he taught at was a school for the rich kids who couldn’t hack it in the Chinese public school system and he was preparing them for getting in to American schools… That last part actual kinda scans.

Its kind of funny. The only video of his that I’ve taken the time to watch makes him sound kind of ok-ish (it might have been the one where he was talking about consumerism or something along those lines), but then everything that I’ve heard about him since is just awful.

I had a similar experience where I watched a bit of his stuff some months back when Iran situation was first heating up, it seemed like fairly straightforward analysis of imperialist geopolitics we were all watching play out. And then yeah, looked a bit beyond that to see some other content and it got weird real quick, turned into quite the “nope!”.

    • He claims to have predicted Trump’s second presidency and the US-Israel war against Iran.

You mean the thing that everyone knew from the primaries and the thing the US has been threatening to do for a decade? Predictive power off the charts.

The oldest video on his youtube channel was uploaded on April 24 2024. In this video he gives a 45 minute lecture on why Iran would win a war against the US. It looks to be filmed in a highschool classroom.

I worded it that way because I think it isn’t that impressive of a prediction. The US was already giving unlimited funding to Israel for genocide in Gaza. Trump had assassinated Qassem Soleimani in 2020. Israel had planned to attack Iran for 40 years. Trump pulled out of the JCPOA for Israel. Biden didn’t try to reverse the foreign policy decisions of Trump’s first term. GW Bush blamed Iran for 9/11 in his 2002 State of the Union address, with the ‘Axis of Evil’ paradigm.

Jiang declared that Iran would win the US-Iran war on Mar 2 2026 on Breaking pints. Iran first declared that it had won the war on April 7 2026. I think there were many people who had said that Iran would win from the start.

Jiang is just like a bizarro political figure that I see mentioned sometimes in even non-political spaces. He’s been talked about on Hexbear and trueanon subreddit.

I want add that Jiang’s prediction are based on a belief that Israel and the US are trying to fulfill a biblical doomsday prophecy. Jiang also told Dugin that he believes the US is the literal biblical antichrist and that Russia will defeat the US with the power of Christianity.

So the dynamic is that Jiang is popular enough that he is discussed in the mainstream, non-materialist thinkers are impressed by his predictions, and he says that his predictions are based on fringe conspiracy theories such as doomsday cults.

So about this. What are the chances that the people in power are actually just so braindead and cultish now that the people who happen to subscribe to the same insane cultlike thinking as them can predict what they’ll do by way of simply having the same brain poison? Like it’s definitely true that the US and Israel have religious motivations for this war. Atleast some of the powerful do. And predicting what a maniac will do is easy if ur high on the same supply they are.

Is Jiang a CIA psyop? Because he seems to be heavily pushed on social media. The first time I saw him was on Haiphong’s youtube channel, didn’t like his takes, so I hope Haiphong doesn’t bring him back. Now I keep getting a lot of recs from youtube with Jiang, but a lot of them is AI versions of Jiang, had to probably block a few dozen of these AI Jiang channels.

He explained his “game theory” as “the world is a game and each country is a character with stats and personalities based on geography” 😭

sounds like an idiotic version of the “Realist” framework. realism is a pretty big simplification but if you want a non-marxist evaluation of geopolitics it’s quite a bit more accurate than the neoliberals.

that’s the idiotic part. Mearsheimer is our pet realist because he’s an anticommunist ghoul but at least he analyzes the geopolitical situation better than 99% of western politicians and pundits.
