Best: 6. It was the peak of the 2D sprite era RPGs. Interesting characters, interesting plot, great game mechanics, plenty of fun side quests, satisfying ending.
Worst: 8. Baffling confusing nonsensical plot, an irritating time-sink magic-power grinding mechanism, and I didn’t care if any of the characters (playable or NPC) lived or died.
I have no idea about post-8 games, never played them.
