So not only was my husband killed in a war he never wanted to participate in
There isn’t a draft in this country yet, he very clearly made his choice.
how could he have known joining the military means having to participate in wars? he was tricked!
chair force guys enlist for the money and being able to pat themselves on the back for “service”, which they think means getting paid to workout, flex, and maybe help a drone drop a bomb on a school somewhere far away.
it’s telling that there’s this phenomenon of “this isn’t what i signed up for” when there’s like moderate pushback from a near peer making “service” noticeably less chill.
i don’t doubt this isn’t what they expected, because they’re the sort of bozo that would volunteer for the imperial war machine not noticing its been in decline for almost a decade.
Enlisted Air Force guys enlist for the money and being able to do this shit from the back lines. Air Force officers are the ones who get sent to the front to, well, mostly blow up schools and daycares and report them as “chemical weapons depots” during ops debrief.
the critique is correct but honestly it is good that imperial troops and their families are thinking this way. It means that they are all susceptible to anti-war messaging- which is what an anti-imperialist wants to see from the core, at least to start. That kind of language serves to further corrode morale and lends other soldiers to question the motives of leaders and maybe even the system itself
That is very fair. It’s hard to see past the schadenfreude at times, but you’re right, it’s a net positive for that demographic to begin seeing and feeling the morale dwindle.
[LIBERTARIAN MODE ENGAGED] market signals will correct this as young American men choose to join the militaries of other countries instead
Pilot mercenaries makes me think of Star Fox and those ex-Soviet navy pilots from an old Vice video who run cargo in the DRC lol
Defect to Iran

I died for Pedophiles and all I got was a participation trophy
Lmfao they hate the troops even more than we do

Why is it the department of war, then?
Libby said she was told by her Casualty Assistance Officer that there are additional benefits that cannot be given because the Iran conflict has not been declared a war. “The missing benefits are combat pay-related and were missing from his final paycheck,” she said.
So… Probably a few grand between combat zone hazard pay and possibly tax exempt status for his base pay, at whatever the current going rate is for an O-4. Can’t even get that bag when your zero of a baby-killing spouse gets delusions of grandeur of being an actual WWII Zero pilot.
lol, lmao
Between this and that sailor’s wife getting deported, they’re setting up for a future season of Blowback.
Suckers and losers
Packwatch, rip bozo, etc. Why should she get money for marrying an enthusiastic war criminal?
Oh he didn’t want to fight in this war? Then what was he doing over there, in a volunteer army for an evil empire?
He only wanted the upsides, not the downsides!
Followed the links to the article about the
incident:CENTCOM acknowledged in a press release on Thursday that a U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft was lost “in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury,” emphasizing that the incident “was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire.” It comes after the Kuwaiti Air Force shot down three U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles in another incident last week, CENTCOM confirmed.
In the short statement, CENTCOM said two aircraft were involved in the incident, during which one aircraft crashed in western Iraq while the other aircraft landed safely. Rescue efforts remain ongoing, they added.
