Fixed the problem part of my comment.

You also don’t have to go out of your way to actively lash out at them regarding their anger towards those that harmed them and/or their loved ones, just because you were a guilty participant. If it’s bad for your mental, block and move on.

      Edit: fixed big grammatical error

It was the other way around, they lashed out at me, and well beyond you did bad and should feel bad, would have been right about that. I get to lash out at people who tell me to kill myself when I very nearly did, and I don’t make any apologies.

Unless there is something I’m not seeing they lashed out at soldiers, specifically soldiers that served the U.S., without any consideration of if anyone here was one and you took it personally.

Do you take the same stance when people proclaim their utter distain and hatred for Americans or have you just not seen that yet?

I don’t have to justify myself to you. I’m deeply ashamed of the fact I joined the military because I thought it was an ordinary job, and I resigned the second I realized it wasn’t. But I don’t have to listen to tell me to kill myself without reacting to it like a human.

You don’t have to justify anything to me yet chose to end the comment with it anyway.

A person made a broad statement of absolute loathing of imperial enforcers (like this entire site does with the IDF) and you felt bad this treating it like a direct attack cuz you once were one. Then you attacked them for it.

              You got it gang.

I think eternal torture in hellfire is a bit much applied to me personally yeah. You would react similarly I think, even if yeah they’re probably right that I should put a gun in my mouth. I got over that urge years ago thankfully

“Burn in hell” is a very brief and off-the-cuff sentiment. “I hope all X burn in hell” is not a personal attack until you insert yourself into it by actively claiming X as an important/relevant part of yourself, and adding details to a 3-syllable dismissal.

It’s a stranger on the internet, a 1-month old account saying this. There’s no reason to get worked up about it.

I haven’t reacted that way when I’ve seen many such things said about Americans, and even if I think it’s a bit much, I just don’t engage. I especially don’t tell them to fuck themselves since I understand that their distain for Americans almost comes from a human reaction to the death and suffering from the imperialist nature of this state that everyone here benefits from and many Americans have blood thirstily contributed towards, either actively or passively.

I don’t react that way when I see women wish death or other things upon men for the very active abuse many commit, and many more passively contribute to because I understand it’s not directly targeting me as a singular individual and instead the role a part of my identity plays into their long-lasting and continued oppression.

So no, I don’t think I’d react that way because I historically haven’t. The worst I would do is try to engage in dialogue or, as I recommended previously and have done myself before, block and move on if it is in some way bad for my mental health.

So your thinking is fantasies and daydreams.

Gonna be real with you comrade, telling american soldiers to burn in hell here is common place, and will not change. I really don’t think it should either. That said, it is good that you have seen your failures of the past and have moved to the winning side. But this comrade did not lash out at you in particular. It was a general statement, one that is generally accurate, and you took it personally. Your comments have been reported for being imperialist, and while I’m not going to delete them, I think you should. This comrade and others who have been wronged do not owe you forgiveness, or even kindness.

You’ve grown and changed over the years, excellent. But none of us can expect them to forgive you or play nice about it.

I don’t expect forgiveness and I know I don’t deserve it but I don’t like being told I belong in an eternal torture chamber or I should put a gun in my mouth

hey man, nobody likes it, but you also weren’t being told that. It was being said in general. You were not singled out in any way until you placed yourself into the conversation. To be honest, this conversation isn’t about you. Its bigger than you.

That’s not to say you have no place here, or in the revolution. You absolutely do. But some impolite feelings from comrades that have been materially damaged by your actions and america’s as a whole are gonna happen.

I hate all US active and former military goons. Their sad and depressing fates are better then they deserve. Burn in hell.

Did any of this comment refer to you in particular?

He said all veterans should burn in hell regardless of the circumstances. I don’t expect to be forgiven and accepted especially by the people I hurt but I think repentant vets deserve a chance and don’t deserve eternal torture
