Yeah this is just an ad.

Nick Tidball, the co-founder of the clothing brand Vollebak

And this guy’s website is covered in AI slop.

    659 USD

No way this is going mainstream, that’s way too expensive. The style is interesting, but not enough to be compelling.

a single garment worth a month of groceries is so far from going “mainstream” it’s insulting to suggest it

I can’t imagine that printing a pattern is the primary price bottleneck here. Once shien or whoever gives it a try they’ll be the same price as anything else I’m sure.

Anything that does not physically cover the face and conceal its shape will not help you.

    This will confuse absolutely nothing.

those anti-paparazzi scarves might do something if they were configured for the near IR too

This is just a grift. The sort of person wealthy enough to buy this is also the sort of person who will never have anything to hide from the state, so it’ll never actually be tested (and probably says in the fine print that it doesn’t actually do anything). If there was an actual affordable clothing brand that confused cameras every western government would’ve already made it illegal.

I love that it’s “adversarial” to not want to have your face entered into a database and to have your location tracked at every moment of the day against your will.

I’m sure specific and expensive “adversarial” clothing brands are a gimmick for now, but people will easily discover cheap and fashionable ways to subvert the surveillance state that may well become popular later on.

Personally, I’m waiting for burkhas to catch on among liberal crackers inshallah-script

It’s still a camera recording. They can just have a human look at the footage if the AI produces unusual predictions.

There is no way for you to check if this even remotely works against current models used by Flock or Palantir.

This shit barely worked to confuse models 7 years ago.
