Do you have any weird abilities you never trained or learned? I don’t mean like superpowers, I mean more mundane things like how some people can remember long strings of numbers or how some people have perfect pitch. I bet some of y’all can fart on command.
I can attest that I have a 100% success rate in determining if a person is evil within seconds of meeting them. I don’t know what that’s called but it’s like the thing Bruce Willis does in Unbreakable. I’ve successfully identified people I’ve thought were going to be murderers several times and I was correct. I’ve been able to identify racists, a guy who neglected his kids, and I was the only person in my entire family to get weird feelings about one of my uncles. He ended up getting convicted of fraud because he was stealing life insurance payouts at his insurance job. I just go off vibes and maybe I’m ignoring all the false positives I get but anecdotally I’ve always been correct about my weird feelings, and I often detect evil in people who are otherwise well-liked among others before they do the evil thing. I just feel it even when there’s no noteworthy evidence I dunno.
So can y’all do anything cool?
I used to be able to wriggle both my ears individually, but then at some point I could only do the right ear and now I can only do the left ear for some reason

Also I can very accurately gauge the weight and volume of any given item, liquid, solid, dry, irregular, whatever. Very good skill to have as a chef! I can tell you exactly which size container to put leftovers in.
Also I can roll a cigarette perfectly even in the rain, with sweaty hands, on heroic doses of hallucinogens, in any circumstance you will get a very decent smoke in less than 20 seconds if you ask for it.
I taught myself to remember long strings of numbers. It’s a skill I have not been able translate to anything useful, but I think it relates to my other, more useful skills, navigation and visual memory.
My method is to imagine myself traveling a path, like walking from home to the grocery store. Then along the way I assign each digit to something I’d see along the path, like a stop sign would get the number 8. Then I visualize the 8 on the stop sign, and so on. When I need to remember the number I walk the path in my mind and I see the numbers.
I know why, it’s a neurodivergent trait, but… I can withstand large amounts of consistent physical pressure, often applied punitively to “special needs” children and vulnerable adults not viewed as people by society. I can tolerate and enjoy a lot of sensory experiences that neurotypical people often find unpleasant. I like to say the sensory disorder part of my autism is less of a disability and more a genuine case of “differently abled”, or a superpower with downsides - because yes, there are sensory things I cannot handle that are perfectly fine, pleasant, or at most minor annoyances, for most neurotypical people… but I have never met a pressure device or compressive restraint that I disliked as much as I was supposed to, I have very odd safe foods and preferred textures and I will try eating any new food or wearing any new fabric once - I regularly find myself loving the texture of a food NTs around me find gross, and I don’t have the social/cultural ick factor because I don’t do NT social norms, so all that really matters to me is the actual texture and taste. (Just a couple favourite foods: My favourite Vietnamese restaraunt does their signature soup with bits of tripe as one of the meat choices, it tastes like absolutely nothing but I really like the texture, so I always order it. My dad’s favourite sushi place offers octopus, with the suckers on, and he and my mum think it’s weird, but the taste is pretty mild and the texture is so good. Neither vinegar nor lemon juice have any interesting texture going on, but for some reason I absolutely love the taste of vinegar, and lemon juice is a better match to some recipes when I’m using it in cooking or in sauces or dressings and almost as good.) The only food I cannot stand is mushrooms, and I really dislike raw onions (I don’t like cooked onions either, but they are far less awful cooked - mushrooms are just disgusting regardless). And not even all mushrooms prepared all ways, just the typical kind you buy at the grocery store that my mum puts in way too many recipes. I’ve found solutions to most of my worst can’t do it period level negative sensory divergences from most people, so my sensory differences have really started to feel like one of the few net positive traits of my neurodivergence - being autistic in a world designed around NT social norms is exhausting and painful, but at least we get incredible positive results from sensory-seeking once we understand our own sensory profiles, because every sensory processing disorder case is different. A really good sensory experience can get me a positive altered state that NTs claim is unachievable without substance abuse, which makes all the sensory incapabilities and other stupid disabling shit feel worth it and like I’m genuinely more just different than disabled.

Reading the food bits of this comment from the perspective of a bear is cracking me up

My unique talent is that if I’m shopping in a grocery store and I need to stand still for just a moment (eg to check my phone), no matter where I move to I’ll be standing exactly in front of items someone needs to grab right now.
I have upsetting news for y’all.
The evil person detection skill is learned through trauma. You’re recognizing patterns in human behaviour based on people who have hurt you.
It’s an example of hypervigilance, but it really is almost prescient. Traumatized people learn to recognize and avoid dangerous people based on subtle and not-so-subtle cues that others simply don’t notice and need high speed cameras to even document
I am not upset by what you have said, I have been aware that I can read people super easily because of trauma. I have never been treated for it. I don’t think it can ever be fixed.
Thank you for letting others know that it is because of trauma.
Well fuck
Guess I should probably go back to therapy
I’m pretty good at dark souls and similar games
I can visualize things in my mind like a CAD drawing or maps, you’ll never get lost if you’re around me. I’m also good at diagnosing and fixing things. I frequently get compliments about being handy with guns. Working the action, manipulating them, etc.
Sexy skill: any intimate partner I can feel where there aches and pains are and what their body needs to feel better. I literally feel it in my own body. Basically, I give mind bending massages.
Uhhh how do you get better at that latter skill if you can describe it in sfw terms 😳
I guess I just imagine being rubbed in whatever spot and over the years my mirror neurons have gotten really strong. Like if you’ve ever rubbed a part of your body and rolled over a nerve and it kinda sends a shock through other parts, I kinda “map” that onto my partner’s body.
As a kid my mom would ask me to rub her feet or her head and neck, so I got good at that pretty early. Now pretty much every single night I give my partner a rub down to sleep. So having a lot of practice probably plays into it. My hands are sore tho. 😢
Good tips thank you

My hands are sore tho
Then maybe you should massa… oh
Yeah… 😕
I bet I could take most of Hexbear 1v1
I can always tell what time it is to within about 15 minutes accuracy without needing a clock. Of course this is an absolutely useless ability in a world where every gadget has a clock built-in.
Are you able to sleep for really precise amounts of time?
Weirdly yes. If I set an alarm, even if it’s not on a schedule I normally set it for (for example getting up early for a flight) I’ll wake up maybe 10-15 minutes before the alarm goes off.
I’m jelly. When I sleep I’m out.
If I sleep I’m also out
Ah yeah i got the same thing. If i intend to wake up at most arbitrary times unless its too early or too late i will wake up precisely 10 minutes before my alarm
Hearing the high pitched electric whine of broken electronics. It’s a bit like the noise of a tv when it’s turned on but nothing is being displayed. I just think it means I haven’t messed up my hearing as badly as some people. I also have mild tinnitus so idk what’s going on there tho
I also have mild tinnitus and can hear the circuits scream.
It does actually sound excruciating for the machine, like, it’s being torn apart electron-by-electron
Yes. There was a printer recently I heard, in someone’s home. It was in standby, and it just… It sounded like a dialup modem being disemboweled. It was horrifying.
I have really fast reflexes. Not as useful since I haven’t been a goalkeeper in a couple decades, but as someone with adhd it helps with all of the shit i knock over. Sometimes it even impresses people besides myself!
Oh wait shit i missed the first sentence- i actually spent a lot of time training this lmao.
Idk I have the ability to turn any situation into anxiety
Like for yourself or everyone involved?
First one, then the other
Just myself thankfully
I too have the detect evil spell and it frustrates me when others dont see it. Other than that I have absurdly good recall down to remembering conversations I had years ago down to time of day, position, lighting, room layout, weather. Its completely useless other than making the regrets of my life significantly more painful to remember.
It’s frustrating for me because I simply don’t have the words to say why I think a person is evil. They just give me a bad feeling and seem frightening. It’s not a rational thing at all and if I try explaining why someone seems bad then i seem like a judgemental butthole.
But like can you remember good memories or is it just traumatic stuff
I envy your ability, even with the associated drawbacks.
I have a question, can you distinguish between someone who wouldn’t hurt you without a reason, but wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire unless there was something in it for them?
I can’t really predict what a person is going to do, I just get a bad feeling about them. It’s not a precise skill. At most I can maybe guess how evil they are, like I can guess if they’re simply a person who will openly say slurs versus someone like a murderer. But the only tangible information I can determine from a person is if they should be avoided.
I remember good things as well. Many things like what i used to do at nursery and arguing with adults about their flawed silly logic (i was insufferable). Most of my memory space is instant recall of every single video game i have played and even ones i havent for my perfect guessthegame score.
Yeah, I have the cptsd sense for dangerous people too. I have never dated or trysted with anyone who was capable of hurting others without it bothering them enough to want to make things right. I am incapable of feeling romantic or sexual attraction to such a person, even if I notice they are entertaining and/or physically appealing.
Is my demisexuality also cptsd?I have exceptional spacial sense. I taught myself how to pattern draft for sewing without any teachers or reference materials besides examining existing garments.
I’m ace and I’m hoping that’s not a cptsd thing
I have a permenant sanctuary spell cast on me. Nobody has ever attacked me and my presence tends to deescalate situations. I’ve walked into situations where a guest is actively threatening my coworkers (taking swings and lunging at them) and I can walk up to them and make them leave.
I am the most senior person in security outside of management, and everyone else has some sort of story where someone threatened them with physical harm and I have nothing like that, just the occasional case of transphobia. Those cases are also few and far between.
Brb coming to fite you
You say that now but you haven’t felt my aura. I’ve been farming it for decades.
