I know my mom’s fave is Con Air
My mom used to play So I Married An Axe Murderer everyday and added lines from the movie in between music on her burned cds
She sounds like a pretty cool person, NGL
Oh no she fucking sucks I haven’t talked to her in like a decade.
Oh, shit. My bad. So maybe she likes axe murderer a little too much.
Top two without question are My Cousin Vinny and The Birdcage.
Both are solid.
They’re pretty good comfort films for sure.
My dad’s is Brazil
We need to pivot into a duct based society
Good choice. I dont know my dad’s. He hasn’t seen many. Not cause he isnt interested, juat mostly hasn’t. I gotta give my folks a USB stick full of downloaded shows and movies, that reminds me. My dad has always wanted to see Apocalypse Now! which is a favorite of mine and neither have seen Curb Yiur Enthusiasm despite being big Seinfeld fans. They also found the bartmania of early Simpsons annoying and wrote the show off as stupid. I am making them watch the fucking Simpsons. Theyre retired and have time
Pretty sure its Sin City but i’ll need to wait 3-5 working days for him to reply to the question
Get back to me when you can.
Ah it is one flew over the cuckoos nest. Which I should have known but I somehow forgot about it.
Solid movie
my mom’s is The Family Stone, or as I call it, “White People: The Movie”
The Family Stone

It would be a really funny bit to have the first contact I’ve made with my mom in years be a text “whats ur fav movie?”
That would be hilarious. Dont do it…unless you wanna be really funny
I’m probably botching the title/spelling a little, but I know mom’s favorite is Buckaroo Bonzai Across the Eighth Dimension. I don’t know my dad’s because he’s really into movies and has probably named hundreds of favorites through my life.
Buckaroo Bonzai is a really interesting choice for a favorite. I love it but it is weird favorite material. Your mom seems cool
John Smallberries
En Français
Delicatessen (1991) - Dad
Les Intouchables (2011) - Mom
In English
Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979) - Dad
Forrest Gump (1994) - Mom
Are the French ones good? I speak French but never ever practice it
Delicatessen is good, it’s a dystopian black comedy very much like Brazil (1985).
I’m not a big fan of Intouchables. A read of the synopsis and an understanding of The French will make it clear why lol. It’s like Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
Seconding Delicatessen, it’s great!
my dad likes Joe vs the Volcano
Forgotten minor gem right there
still haven’t seen it myself, i’m just so rarely in a mood to sit down and watch tv or movies even when they sound good
It’s not amazing or anything. I wouldnt make it a priority, its just really good. Not great
My Mom’s favorite is, Pride and Prejudice (2005) And I think my Dad’s favorite is, The Crow (1994)
The crow slaps. I am becoming an ironic early 90s goth
It rules so much, I definitely got to re watch it some time soon.
I have a bleach blond mullet with mid 9ps Davey havoc bangs. I have bought some leggings and turned them into shirts. I got this
I think my mom’s favorite must have been Groundhog Day, because she would put it on, leave the room for 20 minutes, and when she came back, if I had touched the VCR in any way, shape, or form, I would be punished. If I got up and left the room, I would get yelled at for leaving the movie on. If I stopped the movie and left the room, I would get yelled at for fucking with the VCR.
I must have seen Bill Murray give himself the millennial bath bomb treatment about three dozen times over the course of one summer.
She also did this with Sister Act and, inexplicably, albeit to a lesser extent, To Wong Foo.
I dont like your mom. If you can set up a skype I’ll berate her for you
Fuck, that reminds me that I have to do a call with her soon. It’s always an ordeal; basically 90 minutes of getting talked over while she word-vomits some tirade about her own stepchildren/step-grandchild. It’s usually a good time to catch up on my alcohol consumption. Cutwater margaritas help the conversation along into the memory pit a little faster.
Those fuck my tummy up, which sucks cause they taste great. Best of luck.
Some Sean Connery or Roger Moore James Bond movie for my dad.
My mom loves Planes, Trains and Automobiles with John Candy and Steve Martin. It’s a funny movie, but she still wants to watch it with the family every thanksgiving and it’s gotten incredibly old.
My dad loved Scent of a Woman, which is such a dogshit movie. He didn’t even really understand the movie, he actually wanted to be like the Al Pacino character which makes no sense
My mom also loves Planes, Trains, and Automobiles but always complains that the ending is “boring.”
That’s fascinating. I actually like the ending, most people think it’s sappy, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard it called boring.
I’m like 99% sure she has ADHD (like I do and my child does lol) and has trouble engaging with emotions that aren’t goofy comedy or angry screaming.
IIRC her favorite part was Steve Martin screaming at the car rental lady.
My dad’s is easily a 1a/1b situation with Dances With Wolves and Field of Dreams. My mom’s is probably whatever Hallmark Christmas movie is on.
He should make a mocie himself called Dances in Fields or Dreaming of Wolves both are sick movie titles
Until the End of the World. I grew up listening to that soundtrack.
Might be a 3-way tie with Raising Arizona and Blood Simple, actually
