I’m just imagining monkeys swinging around the big metal roof supports and like throwing jars of drywall patch at random customers.
Happens here all the time, and it’s not even tropical. It’s why I’m permanently banned from big box home improvement stores.
I remember reading an article about hospitals in India having a real issue with monkeys. They would run wild in the hospitals and steal stuff. One of the solutions they found was to bring in a larger primate called a langur, real nasty piece of work that likes killing smaller monkeys and is territorial and set it up in the hospital with food and treats to its hearts desire, and the langur would chase all the other monkeys out. So basically larger monkey security guard.

There needs to be an Indian adaptation of The Pitt where there’s a big monkey security guard who fights all the other monkeys.
I googled this, saw an article from 14 years ago and google AI slop suggesting it’s legit, but then also the LLM was like
“Security context in [your location]” and made sure to tell me hospitals near me hire human guards. Thank you, llm! i wouldn’t have known
Hahaha LLMS are so helpful. Yeah whatever I read was definitely a long time back, so entirely possible I misremembered some details. I thought I remembered that the hospital staff didnt want to kill the monkeys themselves, religion or protected status maybe, so having the other monkey chase them off was preferable. Also langurs have some amazing faces.
no like that pretty much tracks apparently, I believed it somewhat because, yeah, at least hindu majority areas really wouldn’t wanna be killing monkeys
A semi-rural grocery store I used to go to somewhat frequently had ringtail possums living on the tops of shelves for a while
I love the Home Depot birds. The local ones roost above the birdseed shelves in the outdoor section. Because it’s enclosed, they get predator protection. Nature won.
I used to work in a hardware store and once found a family of mice living in a birdseed pallet. All 20 of them ran out the second I picked the pallet up with the jack. Scared the shit out of me.
I lost count of how many times we found litters of baby mice living in the wax worm containment tubs.
Monkeys
Not bats, opossums, or the favorite
leprosyTexans snack, armadillos. The smelly buddy is even more efficient than monkeys.NO but I saw it happen with a Triceratops once
Oh damn where was that?
Better question: when was that?
Best question: who was that

Whataburger®
I didn’t see it at the Walmart in Puerto Rico
But a couple of stray dogs made their way in and got chased out by a old lady with a broom
I was having lunch in a cafe in Athens once and a stray dog came up and jumped on my lap. I gave him some gyro meat. The guy serving me was like “yeah he comes in here a lot, we used to chase him out but the customers seem to like him.”
surely this has happened in thailand, but i’ve never seen it
