Capital, not people, is in control of the prevailing world economic system. It does not have a point beyond increasing itself and its tendencies emerge from interactions with other social relationships and knock-on effects. Nobody is in charge, there isn’t a point, and that’s why it must be dismantled and replaced with a system run by and for the people.

I think the plan is to replace workers with LLMs and robots (however delusional that may be) then they want the proles to die in WWIII and the first effects of global warming. They will retreat to their bunkers and try to upload themselves into machines.

In a weird way I think it’s a response to global warming. Like instead of cutting down on how much energy each person uses with more efficient tech or rationing they just want to cut down on the number of people. Seems psychopathic enough a plan for the bourgeoisie to me.

If they were capable of thinking past the end of the current quarter they’d never have become billionaires to begin with. Logic cannot save us here, there is no reasoning with the greed virus.

That looking at their screen is the end game. They want big number. Like thots on instagram and broccoli heads on TikTok. It’s all about the number.

TESCREAL ideology has taken over Silicon Valley. They view AI as the next stage of “humanity” and view our continued existence as superfluous. They feel a sick sense of glee when they think about all the water being used and environment poisoned in the pursuit of their AI children because it’s getting rid of all the undesireables as a side effect.

They want the world to end they’re fundamentally misanthropic bitter horrible people. Then they would want to rebuild the world in their image thinking of themselves as god probably.

The rest dont think past the next quarters profits until the wheels fall off this rollercoaster we’re on.

The plan is that humanity is obsolete. In order to travel the stars we need machines. We are the Gods that create those machines. We can upload our minds into them and live forever.

Well not we but like, Elon musk.

They are Darwinist who are competing not just with us, but each other. They want hell on Earth, because they believe THEY can survive it.

They are trying to kill everyone they can, because that is the natural law in their eyes.

They especially REALLY want the poor dead, as they believe the poor are unfit.

What’s key is that they tell themselves this to rationalize a predatory instinct, it’s that instinct which is fundamental. Really they know there are poor people that are their match yet unlucky, or that they inherited wealth, but whenever they think about it they refuse to suppress the pleasure of murder.

There is no plan. Capitalism is not a cohesive scheme deliberately engineered and steered by the bourgeoisie. It’s an engine that was set into motion at one point and has been trucking on by itself ever since. It preserves itself by rewarding those who uphold it and punishing those who dissent.

Let’s say Jeff Bezos got the Ebenezer Scrooge treatment tonight and woke up a changed man who genuinely cares about his workers. If he tried to improve labor conditions at Amazon and it cut into profits, Amazon shareholders would sue into oblivion and some board of directors would appoint a new guy who’s willing to do whatever it takes to make number go up. Every politician who tries to change the system gets drowned out by corporate donors simply protecting their short-term interests and every corrupt politician who works to maintain it gets rewarded.

There’s nobody at the steering wheel here. The bourgeoisie is along for the ride just like you and me, they just have nicer seats. Capitalism sustains itself through the immediate short-term incentives it creates. If you sell out, you can have a nice life right now. If you don’t, someone else will.

      Great comment!

But to add to this, I think there could be, and sometimes even were, someone at the wheel of the capitalist system. This is the purpose of the US government. At some points in its history, it had people who were willing to moderate the tragedy of the commons enough for the bourgeoisie to benefit long-term by being forced to make short-term concessions (think FDR).

However, this is one of those cases where the base eventually overpowered the superstructure. The underlying law of capitalism (namely that of exponential capital accumulation) selects and/or bribes politicians to allow capitalists unlimited short-term profit maximization; after all, capitalists who don’t bribe their way are eventually outcompeted, stripped of their capital, and replaced by those who do.

Ironically, this short-term maximization of profits lowers the long-term stability of the system itself, and gives us a path to destroy the system eventually.

Correct analysis, and why systemic change is necessary and reformist movements are doomed to fail. Reformers necessarily disempower themselves under capitalism but keep the fundamental systemic incentives that ultimately lead to their efforts being undermined and themselves supplanted.

To prevent possible misunderstandings, let me say this: I don’t paint the figures of the capitalist and landlord in rosy colors—far from it. But individual persons play a role here only insofar as they are the personifications of economic categories, or the bearers of particular class relations and interests. My approach treats the development of society’s economic formation as part of natural history, as that type of process, and no other approach does less to make the individual responsible for conditions that he remains a creature of socially, however much he manages to transcend them subjectively.
